About Jessica Hill

Jessica Hill is a news reporter for the Cape Cod Times and currently lives on Cape Cod.

She is a 2019 alumna of Ohio University and the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, where she studied journalism, Spanish and global studies— Latin America.

Jessica graduated in May 2019 magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest honors society. She was also awarded “Outstanding Senior in the News & Information Track” by the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.

In college, she worked at The Post as as the assistant managing editor, focusing on longform articles and special projects. She spearheaded special issues such as the “LGBTQ Issue” and “Beyond the Bubble,” which focused on stories outside of the City of Athens that were waiting to be told. Before that, she worked as an international/multi-cultural reporter, writing about international issues and events on campus. She has also worked as a columnist for The Post, writing about her experiences and the cultural differences in Argentina. Jessica worked as the managing editor for The InterActivist Magazine, a student organization that writes about social and environmental issues.

She spent her spring semester, from January to June, during her sophomore year, studying Latin American studies and Spanish at the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires. This blog originally served as a log of her experiences as she studied abroad in South America.

During spring of 2018, Jessica had the privilege of attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and meeting amazing, hardworking journalists. Through this experience, she learned that she would love to report on international culture and politics.

Jessica spent the summer of 2018 working for a local magazine in Akron called The Devil Strip, where she wrote a longform article on Akron artist Don Drumm. In addition to writing for a magazine, she worked for Varsity Tutors and tutored English, Reading, Study Skills and Organization Skills.
